MARIUS is a magazine about water sports culture in Lithuania. The symbolic title of the magazine and unique baltic surf culture were crucial through the design process. "Marius" is a masculine name of one, who comes from lagoon or sea. While Baltic surfing is unusual with it’s industrial architecture and beaches surrounded by pine trees forest, where catching the right wave or gust of wind is a rare commodity.
To capture the life of the community, it was decided that the magazine would be more similar to the photo album with a spacious grid-based layout and small details scattered around as a wind-blown sand.Vibrant flip-book animation was created to convey the moment of MARIUS life and give a little surprise to the reader.
